Mix Dive – For a Certified Diver and a Beginner Friend

Share the underwater experience together

A combined dive for one certified diver and one beginner participant

Do you want to share the pleasure of diving with your friend, partner or family member who does not have a diving certification?
Our Mix Dive offer is designed exactly for this situation — when one person is a certified diver and the other is a beginner who wants to make their first dive.

This is a great opportunity to dive together, share the underwater experience and create a common memory, even if one of you does not yet have a diving certification.

What is Mix Dive?

Mix Dive is a combined dive where a certified diver dives together with a beginner participant who takes part in the Discover Scuba Diving / DSD program.

It is important to understand that even with a certified diver present, the dive is conducted according to the standards and limits of PADI Discover Scuba Diving, because one participant in the group is a beginner without certification.

The certified diver joins as company and shares the experience, but the dive is guided and organized according to the level of the beginner participant.

Why is the dive conducted within DSD limits?

When one of the participants does not have a diving certification, the safety and comfort of the beginner are the main priority.

For this reason:

  • The depth is adapted to PADI DSD limits
  • The route is chosen according to the beginner’s level
  • The pace is calm and controlled
  • The instructor leads the dive throughout the entire experience
  • The certified diver stays with the group and does not make an independent dive outside the plan

The goal is for both participants to be together underwater, while keeping the experience safe, calm and suitable for the beginner.

What will the beginner participant learn?

Before the dive, the beginner participant will complete a short briefing explaining the most important things for a safe and calm first dive.

The beginner will learn:

  • How scuba diving equipment works
  • How to breathe calmly underwater
  • How to use the mask and regulator
  • How to communicate with the instructor using underwater signals
  • How to move calmly underwater
  • What to do in case of discomfort
  • Basic safety rules
  • And other important things that will help them feel calmer and more confident

The role of the certified diver

The certified diver participates in the dive as a companion and company for the beginner participant.

They can stay close to their friend or family member, share the experience and be part of their first dive, but they must follow the instructor, the route, the pace and the limits of the DSD program.

This is not a standard fun dive for the certified diver. It is a shared underwater experience with a beginner participant.

How does the dive work?

First, we conduct a short briefing for the beginner participant and a general briefing for both participants.

After that, the equipment is prepared, checked and we enter the water calmly, step by step.

The instructor leads the dive and monitors the beginner participant throughout the entire experience. The certified diver moves together with the group, following the planned route and the instructor’s instructions.

The dive takes place in a suitable area, depending on sea conditions, visibility and the comfort of the beginner participant.

Important

Mix Dive is not a standard fun dive for the certified diver and it is not a full diving course for the beginner participant.

Because one participant does not have a diving certification, the entire dive is conducted according to the limits and rules of PADI Discover Scuba Diving.

The certified diver joins as company and shares the experience, but the dive is adapted to the level of the beginner.

The dive depends on sea conditions. If the conditions are not suitable, the dive may be rescheduled for another day for safety and comfort.
